Join us for a two hour workshop where we will learn and put in hands-on practice time mastering core venipuncture, phlebotomy, and IV techniques.
We will cover the following:
- Basic venous anatomy and physiology
- Placing a venous tourniquet
- Identifying superficial limb veins
- How to perform basic injection techniques
- Capillary blood sampling
- Phlebotomy using a syringe and needle
- Phlebotomy using a butterfly needle
- Phlebotomy using a Vacutainer
- Phlebotomy using a safety needle
- Placing a peripheral venous catheter
- Setting up and removing an IV line
- How to deal with the most common complications
- How to prevent needle-stick injuries and understand sharps safety
